Grammar Schools in Berkshire & Slough

The historic county of Berkshire has no county-wide grammar test; the selective schools that remain are concentrated in Slough (a separate unitary authority since 1998) and share one entrance exam via the Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools — Herschel Grammar School, Langley Grammar School, Upton Court Grammar School and St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School. Children sit two GL Assessment papers covering verbal and non-verbal reasoning, English and mathematics; scores are standardised and a child reaching 111 or above (roughly the top 35% of that year's cohort) is "eligible for consideration" for a place at any of the four schools. The Consortium has its own contract with GL Assessment, and Slough Council states scores are not shared with grammar schools outside the Consortium (e.g. Buckinghamshire's), so a child wanting to be considered elsewhere must sit that area's own test separately.
